Disposal:
Ammunition
that has been located underwater can be destroyed in
situ. Often, it is better to recover
it and dispose of it on land. Demolition at sea, however,
has the advantage that the effects of a detonation will
be smaller as the water will absorb the shockwave. The
choice between on land or at sea demolition will be
based on the estimated danger impact, depth, amount
of explosives, fauna and flora, immovability, presence
of pipelines and cables, and the total cost.
