Find airplanebomb WWII at roadconstructions on former 'Sloedam'
(Crossing Rijksweg A58 and Sloelijn) - Netherlands

Thursday 1 March 2007 At activities in cooperation with T&A Survey from Amsterdam and contractor Van Heteren from Wierden,  a bomb has been detected around noon.
After identification by an explosive expert (Senior OCE) of aDeDe, the field was evacuated (Senior OCE). The police and the EODDEF (Dutch Demining service) were alarmed and came immediately. Also, the fire-brigade and medical services were present. By 16.30h the traffic was completely closed of and the EODDEF removed the ignition system from a distance. On Friday, the Brittish 500-pounder was neutralized by the EOD.

The crossing that has to be made from the new Sloelijn and the Rijskweg A58 is positioned on the former Sloedam.
During WWII this dam was the only connection on land between Walcheren and Zuid-Beveland.
Historical preresearch suspected the presence of explosives.
