Our aim is to locate threats and propose
solutions for the millions of people who are, often
without realising it, threatened by explosive remnants
of war.
Prevention
In many countries, not just in the Third World, many
tons of bombs and other ammunition lie undetonated,
the result of past wars. They are hidden in the ground
until they are disturbed during excavation works.
But it is quite simple to detect this ordnance in
advance to avoid accidents.
To
cure
Our approach is not limited to locating the problem.
The ordnance needs to be treated, neutralised or disposed
of in a safe way, in accordance with national or local
regulations and our own Standing Operational Procedures
(SOP).
Knowledge
Information and education of the affected population
has a direct impact on the number of accidents. A
second way of transferring knowledge
is a long-term solution. Training of local mine clearers
should result in independent de-mining activities.
